Nancy Dobry, CEO

Nancy, the founder and owner of RSVP events, has always had a passion for planning.  Prior to creating RSVP events, Nancy worked for Meijer Corporate in their event planning department.  While working for Meijer, she began to dabble in freelance based consulting work out of her home  What began as a hobby quickly developed into something beautiful.  With the swift growth of RSVP events, she retired from Meijer Corporate to truly follow her dream.  In 2009, Nancy moved RSVP events out of her home office and into the Goei Center.  The growth she had been seeing multiplied.  RSVP events began over 25 years ago with Nancy, and has now expanded into a business with two locations, (Grand Rapids and the lakeshore) and a staff of 5 with additional help on call for large events.

Nancy’s business motto is “passion equals success.”  Nancy’s heart and soul is in this business, hence the reason for RSVP events’ incredible growth.  Nancy prides RSVP events in having fabulous relationships with Grand Rapids’ best vendors.  Some of these relationships are new, and some have been growing for over 25 years.  Ask anyone who knows Nancy; she is a little fashionista and not only always looks stunning, but brings her incredible eye for design to every event she helps create.

What has been your greatest work accomplishment?
One bride many years ago who was working with a very, very restricted budget, but we kept planning and creating and brainstorming until it all came together. I really was able to make the client’s dreams come true for this wedding, and it felt like an amazing accomplishment.

What do you see as your expertise within the event industry?
Bringing everything together at the same time for the big picture of an event and design- my selection of linens and color palates always pushes the boundaries while still being a great match for the event.

What is your favorite part of being in the event industry?
Actually making money… just kidding… the clients and the relationships we build along the way.

What expression do you use most often?
“Excuse me missy moo?”

What is your favorite food?
Lobster!

What is your favorite thing to do when you are not at work?
Spend time with my family and if we are watching a Spartan game, that wouldn’t be too bad either.

What is your greatest vice?
Good, expensive, Australian red wine… none of that cheap stuff.  I also love designer fashion purses.
